Officiating Equality- Helping Women Officials In Community Sport Feel Safe And Included

Following new research done by LaTrobe University, community sporting organisations are being urged to take stronger action to foster inclusive, respectful environments for women officials. The research found systemic challenges made women officials feel excluded, undermined and unsafe. It also highlighted some of the common barriers faced by female officials in community sport and suggested actions to attract and retain women in these sports. Monday Drive’s Anthea Tselios spoke with Professor Russell Hoye, Dean of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport at LaTrobe University who was involved in this research.
