Opal Card Data: Building a better transport system for Sydney

Millions of people use an Opal Card to get around the city everyday, tapping off trains, buses, and ferries and that generates a lot of data. Researchers from the University of Technology Sydney are taking a closer look at these findings, and they’ve discovered some trends that could change how transport works in Sydney.  Data gathered from these cards has shown that more people are using public transport than ever before and in some unexpected areas as well. Nic talked to Senior Research Consultant Mathew Hounsell from the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures about how findings from the data analysis could be used to build a more efficient transport system in Sydney.
