Opie the Robort – Preserving ancient languages in rural Australia

There are over 300 Aboriginal languages around Australia, all of which are 60,000 years old or more. Engineers at University of Queensland’s School of Information Technology and members of the Ngukurr Language Centre have combined together to create Opie the Robot, a Robot designed to teach kids some of the ancient languages of their culture. How will this work to preserve these ancient languages? We spoke to Dr Gautier Durantin from University of Queensland’s School of Information Technology.
