Paramedics to Take Industrial Action over Slow Responding Times

The Australian Paramedics Association NSW are calling for government investment into its health system, after the Bureau of Health Information revealed in their new report that NSW’s paramedic responding times for life-threatening conditions are getting slower, with the average wait time increasing to 8.8 minutes, the level that it was back in 2010. It follows a consistent downward trend that has occurred in many Australian states, since before the pandemic began.

The NSW union describe the latest figures as alarming, and are calling for another 1500 workers just to bring staffing ratios in line with other states. The union plans to take industrial action on Monday in a bid to show the flaws of the system.
