Pilot program allowing pharmacists to diagnose is risky: RACGP

The Queensland government is in the spotlight over a pilot plan to allow pharmacists to treat and diagnose chronic health conditions such as diabetes and hypertension in North Queensland.

According to health experts, the risks outweighs the benefits, since pharmacists not only have the proper training to diagnose, but do not have the resources to appropriately treat a patient. In addition, a significant First Nations population are in the area with chronic health conditions.
