Australia is known for its drinking culture. Men drink more alcohol than women – and experience higher levels of alcohol related harm. But unsurprisingly, a recent marketing trend looks like it’s trying to close that gender gap – unfortunately for the worse.

A report, The Instagrammability of Pink Drinks: How alcohol is marketed to women in Australia, highlights how alcohol companies publicly market and advertise their alcohol-related products to new consumers, especially women, in search of greater profits. 

The problem? When you consider Australia’s renowned drinking culture – the question of alcohol regulation remains an ongoing issue.
