Radical public transport strikes force state government to explain their inaction

More than 800 bus drivers in Adelaide walked off the job last Monday, leaving commuters stranded and the state government scrambling to explain how it could happen.

Negotiations stalled between the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and Torrens Transit, as demands for better pay and safer working conditions were not accepted by the private contractor.

South Australian Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Tom Koutsantonis, maintains the Government’s role as a ‘spectator’ in the ongoing negotiations, while the TWU has criticised their lack of intervention in the ongoing dispute.
