Refugees and asylum seekers experience violence: research

A new research released today called The SEREDA Project found out that more than 80 million people were displaced from their homes just in 2020, and half of them are women and children.

The report also found out the challenges and negative experiences from refugees from sexual and gender-based violence. Women, men, children, and members of the LGBTIQ+ community are the most common instances receiving violence in their refugee journey.

While Australia has good resettlement programs from the UN, it’s not doing enough to support those refugees coming by boat, and more support is needed for those refugees in the community.
