Remembering The Past: How We Maintain Memorials

Following the events of the Lindt Cafe Siege and The Bourke Street Attack in Melbourne. Concerned citizens and those affected by the tragedies proceeded to leave floral memorials and messages and indications of their solidarity with those affected. This is a common practice following major human tragedies throughout the world. But how should the relevant authorities help to maintain the physical and social importance of these memorials?
