Removing Dev. Applications Gives Musicians and Property Owners More Freedom

Musicians and artists have been doing it tough since the COVID-19 crisis. A recent survey conducted by ilostmygig.org revealed that 66% of musicians haven’t gotten any industry support outside of JobKeeper and JobSeeker.

However, Mayor of Inner West Council, Darcy Byrne, is putting forward new policy that removes the need to submit a development application to hold live music, artistic and cultural events in shopfronts, offices and industrial premises. This makes it significantly easier for musicians to perform and earn income. Ruby Innes spoke to Councillor Darcy Byrne himself this morning.

A link to his petition to fast-track NSW Government approval of this policy can be found here.

For any artist, musician, roadie or music worker out there really struggling financially due to COVID, help can be found at Support Act.
