Homelessness in Australia is becoming an increasingly prominent issue, with the number of those on the streets rising in our capital cities. Those with pets, however, are faced with the further challenge of looking after their companion without proper access to veterinary care and grooming. On top of this, there is a lack of social housing available willing to accommodate for those with animals. Associate Professor Bronwen Dalton, Director of the Masters of Not-for-Profit and Community Management Program at the University of Technology, Sydney co-founded Ruff Sleepers, a service run by students and volunteers that provides access to free vet checkups and dog washing to the disadvantage and homeless. Bronwen joined us on the line to discuss.
