SpaceX Mission Touches Back Down

Ground control to Bob and Doug, this morning NSAW astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley touched down safely in the Gulf of Mexico in a successful end to the SpaceX Dragon Endeavour Mission.
It was NASA’s first crewed mission from the US in nine years and required cooperation between NASA and the private corporation, SpaceX, run by Elon Musk. So just what was the purpose of this mission? What can it tell us about the future of space exploration?
