Save the Tassie Devils!

Far south, in the cold Tasmanian mountains is a centre for Tasmanian Devils – the world’s largest surviving carnivorous marsupial, that once lived also in the mainland, but were extinct about 400 years ago.

It may give off the impression of being “mini-zoo” and nice centre for tourists, but it’s actually an important link for survival of this endemic animal species.

As a very aggressive illness (the devil facial tumour disease) is killing the population dramatically since 1996, centres like Devils at Cradle focus on saving the disappearing species.

Tasmanian conservationist Wade Anthony joined host Sophie Ly to tell us more. You can also find out more information here.
