School Textbooks and Misrepresentation of Indigenous Australians

New research into our representations of Aboriginals in Australian school textbooks has revealed that Australia is still implied as a ‘white’ nation. Our textbooks for many students provide an inherent model for understanding their place in our nation so without a proper and equal representation, these students often perform worse academically. Why is this still occurring and is anything being done to change it? The Daily was joined by Graduate Research Assistant From the University of Tasmania’s School of Social Sciences, Robyn Moore.
