Science Spotlight: Colliding Galaxies

It’s time for Science Spotlight. Each week we talk about the fun facts and big breakthroughs made in the pursuit of scientific knowledge.

Just last week, the Hubble telescope once again stunned the astronomy community with a remarkable image of two galaxies mid collision. But what exactly happens when two galaxies collide? Is it a rare occurrence? Could it happen to our galaxy? Well, Cameron has considered your questions ahead of time and relayed them to Astronomer-at-Large and friend of the show Dr Fred Watson.
