Soap Opera: On the Dangers of Anti-Bacterial Handwash

When we’re buying hand wash we often see the words “anti-bacterial” but what does that actually mean? And is it actually preventing us from catching germs? Well in America manufacturers failed to prove that they weren’t harmful for daily long-term use or that they were more effective than regular soap so the Food and Drug Administration has decided to ban 19 ingredients used in the hand washes including the two most common, triclosan and triclocarban. Today we were joined by Sonja Frolich to discuss this story a little bit more.13
