Space Balloons and Aussies in Space

Residents of Alice Springs were treated to a fascinating sight early on Sunday morning as a futuristic balloon the size of a football field hovered above the red landscape. The helium balloon, loaded with sensitive space monitoring equipment is being sent up to about 39km above the Earth’s surface and joining us now to discuss why is Dr Robert Sharp, an Associate professor of Instrument Science at ANU’s college of Science.
