Space Resources: For An Exclusive Few? Or For All?

US President Donald Trump has recently issued an executive order that has reaffirmed private companies involved in US mining activities on the moon with property rights over these interstellar resources. 

But is the US really able to privatize these space resources? What are the legalities behind such a decision given that in space there are international treaties regarding these resources in the picture? 

To help us unpack this somewhat confusing space story we were joined by Jeffrey McGee, an Associate Professor at the University of Tasmania who will unpack just what US mining activities on the moon mean for the use and privatisation of space resources for all.
