Sport participation for people with a disability

64% of Australians regularly partake in sport, but only 23% of those with a disability are participating or have the opportunity to.

For those with a disability, there are a number of barriers that prevent sport participation – including transport, availability of facilities but too a competitive environment, that can also leave those without a disability feeling intimidated and deterring them from participating altogether.

Simon Darcy is an avid sports enthusiast and expert in social inclusion and says there’s a lot that can be done to lower the guard of the sports world.
