Sussan Ley to lead the Liberals

Amid Ministers being sworn in to the newly shuffled ministry and cabinet, the Liberals held their leadership election.

Ex Minister Ed Husic shot back at the deal done by Victorian Deputy PM Richard Marles characterising him as a ‘factional assassin’ and former Attorney General Mark Dreyfus’s calls to the Prime Minister went unanswered all weekend.

The Nationals confirmed David Littleproud as leader and Kevin Hogan as deputy, but the real contest turned out to be the Liberals with Sussan Ley just getting past Angus Taylor for the Opposition leader position.  Ted O’Brien has sailed in as her deputy, with shadow portfolios to be the first hurdle for Ley and O’Brien.
