Sydney Film Festival Interview: God Exists, Her Name is Petrunya

The Sydney Film Festival is into it’s final weekend and one of the flicks having it’s Australian premiere at the Festival is God Exists, Her Name is Petrunya.

Only the second ever North Macedonian film to screen at SFF, it follows Petrunya who raises the ire of her small town when she wins a competition involving retrieving a wooden cross from a river; an old ritual in which only men are allowed to participate.

The film is based on true events.

The film’s director, Teona Strugar Mitevska sat down for a chat with 2ser’s Glen Falkenstein.
