Sydney Harbour Gets a Sea Bin

It’s an idea so brilliantly simple that only a couple of surfers could come up with it:

Bins…but for the sea.

A couple of years ago, friends and surfers Pete Ceglinski and Andrew Turton had the idea to develop a bin that could float around marina areas, collecting the rubbish and microplastics that gather in our waterways.

Now that dream is a reality. Backed by a slew of enthusiastic sponsors, the sea bin project is due to install two sea bins in Sydney this month following a successful installation in WA earlier this year.

Tess spoke to founder Pete Ceglinski about the genesis and development of the sea bin and learnt how it functions and what benefits it provides to our waterways.
