It may sound like a joke, but a current TikTok trend is to literally tape your mouth shut during sleep.

Those who use it claim that it helps improve sleep and overall health, however, these benefits are mostly anecdotal, and include improved skin, mood and digestion on top of more practical benefits like better airflow and improved asthma symptoms.

But is mouth taping an effective way to address these issues, and is it safe? Cameron Furlong talks to Dr Moira Junge on the Thursday Daily to figure out where this trend came from and why its a thing.
