Cinema in a Post-COVID World

As COVID-19 struck across the globe, the impacts stemming from this pandemic have been detrimental. Namely, the entertainment industry has seen an incredible decline in production and patronage. Various plays on stay-at-home orders all over the globe meant that new forms of entertainment took the reins, such as streaming services and the like. Why go catch a movie at your local cinema, when you can hop onto Netflix and do the same?

2SER Drive spoke to Dr Daryl Sparkes, lecturer in film and documentary at the University of Southern Queensland. We shed light on the impacts of social distancing, ticket prices, and the lack of new cinema releases, all of which have impacted the industry.
