The hysteria of representation

Premiering at the German Film Festival a new film Hysteria explores the cultural tensions in modern Germany around religion and ethnicity when conflict arises upon a film production after a copy of the Qoran is accidentally burnt during a filmed recreation. This produces a provocative film that puts a critical lens to the German creative sphere and the way in which identity is communicated.
Stephen Hill talked to the director Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay about this film that will keep audiences guessing.
