The politics of climate change

Earlier this year we watched as thousands of youngsters rallied, begging to reduce the impact of climate change. Just last week over 300,000 Australians signed a petition in support of the cancellation of the annual New Years Eve fireworks. Yet little action has been taken by our politicians and just last night it was announced that the annual NYE fireworks will be going ahead tonight despite the nations catastrophic bushfire conditions. While surveys and evidence shows that there is increased public concern about climate change and the environment, it is time to ask the question – why aren’t our politicians listening?  To answer this question and more we had Senior Lecturer from Macquarie University , Dr. Jonathan Symons, who is an expert in the politics and ethics of climate change.
