It’s the dawn of one of the biggest events in the Australian racing calendar: the Melbourne Cup.

For many, that still means fancy hats, champagne and the chance to win some money. Unfortunately, gambling for many Australians is more than just a punt, it’s an all consuming lifestyle.

The financial costs of betting are clear, but how does our mental health suffer and is there any way to gamble responsibly?
