The Spaghettification of a Star
The universe is vast, and mysterious, and beautiful and apparently, not unlike many of us with extra time at home this year, has decided that making its own spaghetti is a fantastic idea. Well… kind of.
Astrophysicists have observed a rare phenomenon recently, with the team witnessing the spaghettification of a star by a supermassive black hole.
But what is spaghettification? And what does this observation mean for our understanding of the universe?
To find out more we were joined by Dr Brad Tucker, Astrophysicist and Cosmologist at Australian National University.
