This Day in History, December 3rd

Its not Daylight Savings but we’re turning back the clocks anyway! On today’s date in 1586, allegedly, astronomer Sir Thomas Herriot, introduced the potato to a previously chips and mash-lacking England after an expedition along the east coast of the Americas. The Battle of the Eureka Stockade took place in Ballarat, Victoria, identified by some as the birth of democracy in Australia, and NASA lost radio contact with the Mars Polar Lander moments before the spacecraft enters the Martian atmosphere. Plus we celebrate birthdays for Brendan Fraser, Amanda Seyfried, Andy Williams, and Prince of Darkness Ozzy Osbourne!
