This Day in History, September 11th

A day stamped hard into the history books, today the Roman Empire suffered its greatest ever defeat at the hands of Germanic barbarians, Santiago, Chile, was besieged by indigenous warriors attempting to free eight chiefs held captive by the Spaniards, but the Spaniards only went so far as freeing their heads from their bodies, Australian 9th Division forces liberated the Japanese-run Batu Lintang POW camp, and, of course, the September 11 attacks took place in the United States on this day in 2001, killing 2,977 people using four aircraft hijacked by 19 members of al-Qaeda. Plus birthdays for Brian De Palma, Bashar Al-Assad, and a whole slew of musicians including Lola Falana, Gerry Conway, Sally Seltmann, Ludacris and Moby.

Today’s Track:
