Toxic Masculinity and the “Lost Boys”

This May, the Merrigong Theatre Company is tackling the dark theme of violence directed towards the LGBTQI community with a new play “Lost Boys”. It takes us back to the 1980’s to a time when there were a spate of horrific murders targeting members of the gay community.

Set in Wollongong, the play follows three generations of the Murphy family, while exploring the toxic masculinity that spurs on homophobic violence.

The play’s writer Lachlan Philpott, took some time out from rehearsals to talk to Jess more about the play.
