Travel Writing from Home

Many of us get a lot of pleasure and inspiration from travelling to different countries in search of new experiences. Travel has certainly inspired many great writers over the centuries. But it doesn’t have to involve far-flung exotic places. We can travel back in time exploring memories or history, and reach entirely new places through our imagination. As the American Henry Miller wrote: “One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”

The Daily was joined by Dr Ben Stubbs – a travel writer and Senior Lecturer in the School of Creative Industries at the University of South Australia – for his thoughts on “vertical travel” and getting creative close to home.
