University Hazing: Harmless or Horrific?

For some Australian on campus University Students, O week marks a week of hazing. Although hazing culture may seem harmless in theory, it may be the prelude for larger sexual violations on University campuses, so this begs the question what can be done to change decades of hazing traditions in Australia? The 200 page Red Zone report released yesterday lifts the lid on the crude, barbaric and often sexually violating traditions of hazing culture at Residential Colleges in Australia, specifically the University of Sydney. These traditions often backed by Alumni and older students have been revealed to set the backdrop for larger violations of sexual misconduct and assault on university campuses. The organisation behind the report, End Rape on Campus seeks to change this, We had Anna Hush, Ambassador from End Rape on Campus and one of the co authors of the report.
