Venus Invasion by the USSR

We are all familiar with the Race to Space for the moon landing. But did you know that there was another planet of interest during the Cold War? Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the USSR launched 29 spacecraft towards Venus, and the largest has remained there for the past 53 years. But not for long…the spacecraft is heading home. Where and when are the big questions?

Alice Gorman, an expert member of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) International Scientific Committee on Aerospace Heritage and a Fellow of the Outer Space Institute tells us more.
