Victoria passes affirmative consent laws

The Victorian government has passed new affirmative consent laws. This could potentially change the way that sexual assault cases are dealt with in Victoria.

These new reforms put the onus on the accused to confirm they have received consent, rather than scrutinising the victim.

However, these changes have received a mixed reception, with concerns that there could be more holistic systemic reforms to approach these issues.
