War on Abandoned Trolleys

As more commercial precincts develop, we see more shopping trolleys abandoned far away from the shops they belong to. Councils have their own programs, but it seems that our communities need more sophisticated plans towards limiting the number of wayward trolleys. Otherwise, Australian citizens will be exposed to further safety risks, as dumped trolleys can clog rivers, drains and creeks. They even contribute to flash flooding. Johan Barathelemy is a research fellow at the University of Wollongong, and he joined us earlier to offer a range of existing and possible solutions that will help communities win their trolley wars.
