Film: Warfare
Written and directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland, the latter of 28 Days Later and Civil War fame, Warfare follows Mendoza’s experiences during the Iraq War as a US Navy Seal. The film depicts an encounter he and his platoon experienced on November 19th 2006 in the wake of the Battle of Ramadi, and is filmed in real time. It stars D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai of Reservation Dogs fame as Mendoza.

Television: Pachinko Season 2
Pachinko follows the story of four generations of a Korean family, depicting their struggle through Japanese rule and exploring the living conditions and discrimination against Korean people in Japanese society. The show jumps between timelines, specifically going between post war Japan in 1945, and Japan in 1989. The show has been praised for its cinematography, writing and acting.

Television: How To Die Alone
How To Die Alone is a comedic series that follows a black woman (Natasha Rothwell) who works at JFK Airport, shuttling passengers around to locations that she’ll never go to. After she has a near-death experience, she decides to use that experience to take control of her life.
