Here’s what he had for us this week.

Film:  The Janes

An important documentary about women’s activist group the Janes, who fought for the right to abortion when it was illegal throughout the United States from 1968-73. Essential viewing in the wake of the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade.

Film: Cha Cha Real Smooth

The story of a young man trying to find himself. Returning to his hometown he strikes up a charming bond with a woman and her daughter at a bar mitzvah. A charming, warm comedy.

Album: Magic Sign, Martin Courtney

The 2nd solo album from Martin Courtney, the frontman of American indie rock band Real Estate. Wayne’s standout song is the opening track ‘CornCobb’.

Magic Sign is out now on Spotify and Bandcamp.

Television: Kevin Can F*k Himself.

A dark comedy about housewife Allision finding a way out of her loveless marriage to Kevin. Partly filmed in a multicamera sitcom-style and single camera drama, this series plays with meta fictions around situational comedies for a truly unique viewing experience.
