Here’s what he had for us this week:
Television: The Wild.
A group of teen girls are travelling by plane when the engines suddenly fail, the plane crash-landing on a desert island. A mysterious take on the Lord of the Flies scenario, The Wild plays with flashbacks and flash forwards to build a story about friendships, betrayals and social conflict.
Film: Plan B
After a regrettable one night stand, Sunny enlists her best friend Lupe on a road trip to get the Plan B pill within 24hours. An entertaining and thought provoking film, with charm and comedy throughout, this road trip adventure highlights the importance of pregnancy healthcare in the American heartland.
Based on the graphic novel, this British coming-of-age comedy tells the story of Charlie Spring, a gay schoolboy who falls in love with his classmate and the struggles this entails. A series about finding who you are and accepting others, Heartstopper is a sweet and charming series about identity today.
Album: The Other Side of Make Believe, Interpol
The 7th studio album by the American rock band Interpol is lyrically upbeat while musically downbeat, the album was written during the Covid-19 pandemic. A post-punk revival sound, The Other Side of Make Believe will please Interpol fans who have been waiting for a return to form.
