Weekly Wrap- August 2nd 2019

This week’s headlines saw a doping scandal in the Australian swim team, when athlete Shayna Jack failed a drug test. Jack was forced to withdraw from South Korean swimming championships a few days before the tournament was set to begin. Her managers maintain they didn’t know how the drug entered her system.

A bill that would ease abortion laws in NSW is making its way through Parliament. Sexual assault allegations from the Liberal party came out as an ongoing issue after several female politicians from the party, as well as members who have retired or left, have come out saying they experienced harassment from senior members of the party.

The trade war with China and the US continues with Trump taking to Twitter and ramping up debates in attempts, in his opinion, to ease hostile relations between the two nations.
