Men Excluded from Body Ideals Research

While the conversation about body image dissatisfaction often focus on women, concerns regarding how our body looks is something that is a universal issue. In a study from last year, responding to the lack of inclusive analysis of men’s exposure to ‘fitspiration’ and ‘thinspiration’, a team of researchers from the University of Melbourne and the Deakin University, investigated the impact fit and thin inspired content has on how men perceive their bodies.

Joined by Dr Isabel Krug, senior lecturer in clinical psychology from Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences and researcher in the study from last year we spoke talk about why men are so often left out of the conversation regarding body image.
