Wine Chat: How to make wine – The Crush

This Month at Wine Chat we are taking a deep dive into the process of wine making. In our third installment we are taking a look at “The Crush”. The process of taking a fresh harvest and turning grapes into juice. As always we are joined by BSC: Wine Science student Cal Lee .

Wine of the Week

2023, A. Rodda ‘Baxendale Vineyard’ Chardonnay, King Valley, Victoria

There is some top tier Chardonnay being produced in Victoria at the moment, and winemaker Adrian Rodda is one of the key figures pushing the style forward. Situated in the Whitlands area of the King Valley, the Baxendale Vineyard is located 600m above sea level on volcanic soils. Pristine fresh acidity wrapped in layers of leesy cream and flinty minerality, a masterclass in modern australian wine making. Drink now but will happily cellar for another 10 years.
