Young Women Are More Likely To Experience Poor Mental Health

Did you know that young women in Australia are the most likely group to suffer from poor mental health? Statistics in the 2018 Australia’s Health report released by the Institute of Health and Welfare indicate that women between the ages of 16 and 24 report twice the rate of anxiety disorders than men of the same age. They also show that suicide rates amongst young women have risen in the last decade. With statistics like this, should we be doing more to address poor mental health in young women?

Jennie Hudson, the Director of the Centre for Emotional Health at Macquarie University, joined The Daily to unpack this and how we should combat this.
