The news has been filled with the proposed changes to section 18c of the Racial Discrimination Act, spearheaded by conservative politician Cory Berndardi. While proponents are calling the push to remove the words ‘insult’ and ‘offend’ as a move towards greater freedom of speech, much of the desired effect seem to already be covered by section 18DDr Mark Williams from RMIT spoke with Nic about the two sections and what the changes could mean.
