Australia’s oldest Indigenous rock art on brink of destruction

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population are the oldest living culture on Earth who have passed down their histories through oral storytelling and rock art engravings.

However, the histories they cemented on the earth are being lost due to human development and the ever pressing concerns of climate change.

Judith Hugo is the co-convenor of Friends of Australian Rock, a group who are fighting for the preservation of one of Australia’s oldest rock art sites, the Burrup Peninsula in Western Australia.
