Who is responsible for pre-conception care?

How do you make sure your body is in the best physical shape for pregnancy?

It’s a question not many Australian women are asking, with half of all pregnancies unplanned, and many women not involving GPs and midwives until they are already pregnant

It has some worrying consequences – especially if you are overweight or have a chronic condition – both of which can contribute to making your pregnancy complicated.

Researchers are now asking who is responsible for starting conversations with women about preconception care, and when is the best time to do it.
