100 years of radio in Australia

Radio station 2 SB broadcast 100 years ago for the first time in Australia.  This station became 2 BL and is now ABC Radio Sydney.

They celebrated with a special live audience broadcast from the NSW State Library Auditorium on Thursday morning.  Many former and current broadcasters were there in the morning show of Sarah Macdonald, (who started broadcasting at 2 SER FM) as well as Phantom Dancer Greg Poppleton, Tim Freedman from the Whitlams, and the crew from the Wharf Review.

ABC Chair Ita Buttrose was there and a surprise guest in the form of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese arrived – and although he would not be drawn on the topic of the appointment of the new ABC Chair, he was keen to point out he and Young Labor helped get JJJ to go national.
