NSW Parks Services tour creating havoc for indigenous owned businesses
Roughly 6 years ago the National Park and Wildlife Service started up their very own tour guide company, known as “Discovery Tours”, in many of NSW heritage listed parks.
The presence of “Discovery Tours” has put pressure on Paakantji man Graham Clarke’s Harry Nanya Tours, to the point where he had to lay off staff and start his own GoFundMe page to keep his company afloat.
Nic spoke with Graham, as well as Dunghutti elder and grandmother, Margret Campbell, who is the Managing Director of Dreamtime Southern X .
With many politicians and government bodies expecting Indigenous Australians to be “self-determined and economically independent”, it seems unfair for these government companies to be disrupting Indigenous owned businesses.
