2024 Eta Aquariids Shaping Up To Be Spectacular

Halley’s comet orbits the Sun approximately every 76 years, and the dust from the comet produces two meteor showers each year; the Eta Aquariid around mid-April and the Orionid in October. The Eta Aquariids are the better of the two and one of the best meteor showers visible from the southern hemisphere. This year’s Eta Aquariids have been predicted to be extra special, and could even be the best ones this century. Professor Jonti Horner, who specialises in Astrophysics at the University of Southern Queensland, joined us on the Monday Daily to discuss the shower and how to get the best view.
