With March drawing to a close, 2SER has got some all-new tunes to get stuck into this week. First up is Big Thief frontwoman Adrienne Lenker with her newest solo album Bright Future. The fifth solo album from the Indianapolis-born artist, Lenker unleashes devastatingly tender songwriting, coupled with intimate vocals and an evocative, watery flow. Vulnerable and introspective, Bright Future is a beautiful gem of an album.

Sydney-born DJ and producer Samantha Poulter, better known as Logic 1000, released her debut album this week, Mother. As its title suggests, the record was inspired by entering motherhood for the first time. With slick production and a wealth of collaborators, Mother guarantees listeners a healthy dose of melody-infused house and shuffly, soulful garage, perfect for fans of the likes of Sofia Kourtesis and Maya Jane Coles.

Despite its name, Three is in fact the twelfth studio album from London-born producer and former Fridge member Four Tet (real name Kieran Hebden). A tonally rich electronic affair, Three bounces between house music, lounge, ambient, and jazz/funk-influenced tracks. The lead single, ‘Three Drums’, is a lush eight-minute experimentation pulling from elements of ‘90s hip hop, electronica and rock.

Following that, we have the 2SER feature album this week, Good Morning Seven by Good Morning. The Naarm-based duo of Stefan Blair and Liam Parsons have put out a rich, bright indie-pop record that drifts between melting guitars and arpeggiated synths, creating a gorgeous hazed-out soundscape. While Good Morning’s recent releases have been recorded in a matter of days, this album took a much longer time to produce, in part due to Covid and tour disruptions but also due to a desire to make a more considered album with higher production values. The end result is clear: Good Morning Seven is a heartfelt double LP that boasts sweet melodies and beautiful harmonies, combined into one blissful package.

Up next is Australian duo Lani Bagley and Craig Schuftan, better known as Ducks! Now based in Berlin, the former Sydneysiders have released Strange Endeavour, a haunting EP full of stripped back lo-fi lounge and deep house tracks. Ducks! have also teamed up with fingerstyle guitarist Tim McMillan and violinist Rachel Snow to create a supernatural record that aims to uncover what truly lurks in the shadows.

There’s also a number of singles to check out this week, including releases from King Stingray, Grace Cummings, Bad Bangs, Missgenius and Rona!
